As part of the efforts to ensure the conduct of a successful, rancour-free National convention, President Muhammadu Buhari played the host to the founding leaders of the All Progressives Congress at the Presidential Villa on Thursday night.

Present at the dinner were the First Interim  Chairman of Party, Chief Bisi Akande, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Dr Ogbomnaya Onu, Rochas Okorocha, Ibrahim Shekarau and Aliyu Magatakarda Wamako.

Others are Governors  Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduba, Aminu Masari of Katsina, and Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi.

The Chairman of the party’s Caretaker and Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee, Mai Mala Buni, and Secretary to the Government of the Federation Boss Mustapha also attended the event.

Presidency sources said that the President decided to host the top leaders of the party to appreciate them for their  sustained support for his administration.

The President had held similar meetings with governors elected under the platform of the party, national chairmanship aspirants, the principal officers and leader of the National Assembly to hold discreet talks which focused on the National Convention.

Although there are strong indications that the Convention might have dominated discussions, the media was kept out of the talks.
