Nigeria’s notorious billionaire kidnapper, Evans otherwise knowns as Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike has been sentenced to 21 years imprisonment by the Ikeja Special Offences Court in Lagos state.
The court had found Evans and his co-defendant, Victor Aduba guilty of conspiring and kidnapping Sylvanus Ahanonu Hafia on 23 June 2014 at Kara Street, Amuwo Odofin, Lagos.
They pleaded not guilty to the four charges but the court presided over by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo found them guilty.
The judge held that the sentence would serve as a deterrent to other aspiring kidnappers.
Evans was arrested in June 2017 at his Magodo, Lagos residence.
The duo were were alleged to have captured and detained Hafia and demanded a ransom of $2 million.
