The convoy of the Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, was on Wednesday attacked by suspected hoodlums in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.
A spokesman of the Candidate, Senator Dino Melaye said that 74 persons were injured in the attack.
According to him, the Hoodlums attacked the convoy of the PDP Candidate with stones, machetes, and other dangerous weapons after visiting the palace of the Shehu of Borno.
He accused the ruling all Progressives Congress of being behind the violence in which several vehicles were also damaged.
Dino alleged that the violence was design to prevent the PDP from campaigning in Borno State.
He said that in spite of the attack, nobody would prevent the PDP from its political mission.
“They deployed their thugs to attack our convoys with stones, sticks, machetes as we left the Shehu’s Palace to come to the Ramat Square, all in an attempt to stop our rally.
“But we want to assure them that nobody can stop us,” He said
