The swearing in of Omodewu as substantive Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Oyo State Chapter, Mr. Ajiboye Omodewu, has further deepened the crisis in the party.
Omodewu was sworn in alongside other state chairmen at the party National Secretariat Abuja on Monday.
Aggrieved members of the party who spoke on the condition of anonymity accused the National Secretariat of taking side on the matter.
They submitted that swearing in of Omodewu as substantive state chairman of the party negates the position of the constitution of the party.
The group alleged that National Secretariat of the party took the position to favour the gubernatorial ambition of Teslim Folarin in 2023.
They posited that the recognition accorded Omodewu as the state chairman of the party, if not reversed will jeopardize the interest of the party at the state level in 2023.
It will be recalled that Omodewu, few weeks ago, swore in the local government executive council in all the 33 local government areas.
This development has further deepened the crisis within the party as aggrieved members challenged l Omodewu powers to do so.
According to them, “while we are looking for means to reunite aggrieved members, Omodewu is robbing salt on the already sustained injury.”
“Can a divided house wrest power from PDP in 2023?”
On Monday, the Acting Chairman of the All Progressives Congress Caretaker Extra-ordinary Convention Planning Committee and Niger State Governor Abubakar Sani Bello called for unity among members of the party.
