A 27-year-old fraudster aka ‘Yahoo, yahoo boy’ Obeta John has been arrested by the police in Ogun for beating his girlfriend, Idowu Buhari to death

The Network gathered that the fraudster beat her death because she refused to release the proceeds of fraud paid into her account from one of his fraudulent deals.

It was learnt that the deceased, a student of Gateway polytechnic Saapade was killed at Eredu Ishara community in Ode- Remo town of the state.

The spokesperson of the state police command, SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, said the suspect was arrested following a distress call that John was beating his girlfriend, an HND1 Mass his while both of them were locked inside his room at Ojubade compound, Eredu Ishara community.

He added that neighbours had raised alarm that John was hitting her head against the wall as he was beating her in the locked room and all efforts made to persuade him to open the door proved abortive.

“Upon the distress call, the DPO Ode-remo division, CSP Fasogbon Olayemi quickly led his men to the scene where they met the victim in a pool of her blood after forcing the door opened.

“The victim was quickly rushed to State Hospital Ishara, but was pronounced dead by doctor on duty,” the Ogun Police spokesperson said.

Following the death of the student, police arrested John and on interrogation, he explained the cause of the quarrel that led to his beating of his girlfriend to death.

“On interrogation, the suspect, Obeta John, informed the police that he is an internet fraudster, and that certain amount of money from one of his clients was paid into the account of his deceased girlfriend which she refused to relinquish to him.

“He stated further that it was the argument over the said money that led to scuffle between them which eventually led to the death of the girl,” said Oyeyemi.

He added that Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Lanre Bankole, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to Homicide section of the State Criminal Investigation Departments for further investigation and diligent prosecution.
