TIMIPRE SYLVA WINS APC GOVERNORSHIP PRIMARY IN BAYELSA

Former Minister of Sate for Petroleum Resources, Chief Timipre Sylva, on Saturday, clinched the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary election victory in Bayelsa State.

He said that Sylva  scored 52,061 votes to beat his closest contenders Joshua MacIver, who got 2,078 votes and David Lyon, the governor-elect in 2019, came third with 1,582 votes behind Great

According to the result, Professor Ongoebi Etebu, scored 1277 votes, while Mrs Ikisima Ogbomade garnered 584 and Festus Daumiebi 557.

With the result, Sylva, will be contesting against incumbent governor, Duoye Diri of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who is gunning for a second term as governor of the oil-rich state.

 Sylva swept the popular votes from delegates in the 105 wards in Bayelsa State, beating other aspirants including David Lyon, the APC’s 2019 gubernatorial candidates.
