News Investigators/ The Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI), an umbrella group for the Nigerian Muslim Community, has called for diplomatic approach to address recent tension between Nigeria and the U.S.
JNI’s Secretary in Jigawa, Muhammad Babangida, made the call in a statement in Dutse on Friday.
He stated that “Jama’atu Nasril Islam in Jigawa expresses deep concern over recent statement by U.S.
President, Donald Trump, which was based on misinformation regarding the treatment of Christians in Nigeria.”
Mr Babangida, therefore, urged Nigerians to stand firm in unity, pray and work hard to build a better nation.
He added that “these expressed threat of military action against Nigeria necessitated us to call for diplomatic approach and constructive dialogue by engaging with the U.S. President and the American Congress.
“This is to highlight the complexities of the security situation in Nigeria and efforts being made to protect all citizens, regardless of faith, and government’s commitments to address the root cause of violence and security challenges in the country.”
He urged President Bola Tinubu to expedite action by leading high-powered delegation to engage the U.S. administration for frank dialogue about the situation in the country.
He added that “for the success of all these efforts, Nigerians must stand firm in unity, pray and work sincerely towards a better nation, while demanding government to intensify efforts to fight insecurity and assure safety of all citizens.”
He prayed that Almighty Allah would grant Nigerian leaders the strength and wisdom to approach the situation earnestly and hoped that citizens would support government in solving the nation’s problems.
