Explosion Rocks Gamboru Mosque, Several Worshippers Feared Dead

News Investigators/ A large explosion has rocked a mosque at Gamboru Market in Borno State with several worshippers reportedly killed.

The explosion occurred during the evening prayers Tuesday 22 December from an explosive device believed to be Improvised Explosive Device (IED). 

Information about the scale of damage is still sketchy.

Eyewitnesses said the blast tore through part of the mosque within the busy market, killing some worshippers instantly and leaving others with varying degrees of injuries.

Traders and residents were seen fleeing the scene as thick smoke rose from the mosque, while some people attempted to assist the injured before emergency responders arrived.
