WIKE DONATES N2BN TO OGBUNUABALI COMMUNITY

The Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike on Tuesday, fulfilled his promise made to the people of Ogbunuabali community in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

The governor, while announcing the release of the N2billion for a pledge he made to the community at the inauguration of the dualised Ogbunuabali -Eastern Bypass Road in Port Harcourt, on Tuesday thanked the people of the community, for their support during the construction of the road.

He also used the occasion to lift the ban he placed on youths activities in Ogbunuabali community.

Wike thanked the community for their cooperation while the project lasted, which they had earlier rejected.

According to the Governor, it was wrong for people to see leadership as a political party affairs adding that politics was nothing but functions of individual mindsets.

He stated his passion and commitment to effective service delivery to the Rivers people had sufficiently differentiated him from other politicians in the State.

The former Governor of Sokoto State, Sen. Aliyu Wamakko, who commissioned the Eastern Bye-pass, road expressed happiness with the leadership capacity of Governor Wike, stating that he had demonstrated a patriotic and quality leadership in the State.

According to Wamakko, good governance is about serving to satisfy the yearnings and aspirations of the people

Wamakko observed that as a “talk-and-do-governor”, that Wike had done adequately well for his people.

The State Commissioner for Works, Mr Dakorinama George-Kelly, said the road was a single carriage way of 7.3 metres wide which was totally rebuilt.

George-Kelly, stated that the 2.19km long road, which has been dualised, has 4.38 km width on each sides of the lane, and has 4.38km of drains length.

The South-South Regional Manager of Julius Berger Nigeria PLC, Mr Juergen Fischer, added that they started with the first project of the Wike’s administration on operation zero potholes, which led into the ongoing urban renewal programme.

He disclosed that Julius Berger is happy working with Governor Wike to achieve his developmental
dreams for Rivers.

He thanked the governor for the opportunity given to the company to work in the State.
