The Chairman Lagos State Management Committee, Musiliu Akinsanya, also known as MC Oluomo, has withdrawn his threat to Igbo voters in a recent viral video.
MC Oluomo in the viral video, he shared on social media, has warned Igbos living in Lagos State to stay away from the polling units if they would not vote the APC Candidate.
Oluomo, who spoke in Pidgin English, said; “We have begged them, it is not a fight if they did not vote for us. Iya Chukwudi, if you no wan vote for us, please sit down for home oo. We don’t want your vote.”
Following the public outrage over the video, the Commissioner of Police in charge of Lagos Command, Mr Idowu Owohunwa, said that the police have commenced investigation into the video.
The Commissioner strongly condemned all acts, statements and actions that could be taken for hate speech and deepen political tension in the state.
The CP made the disclosure while reacting to questions on the trending threat video by MC Oluomo on Arise Television News Hour on Friday.
He said that the police is deploying its cyber security assets to carry out a holistic investigation into the video.
However, shortly after the warning by the Commissioner of Police, MC Oluomo released a video in which he recanted saying he is for peace.
“Good afternoon all my brothers and sisters. My name is Alhaji Musilu Ayinde Akinsanya, at the meeting I went to yesterday, I was discussing with my sister, Iya Chukwudi. I was referring to her that Iya Chukwudi, if you are not voting for me, sit down at home and the next thing I saw was the video on social media.
“People started to mention my name; please I am always for peace; when you take a look at Lagos State there is peace; why will I say don’t go out to vote, if they don’t come out to vote, how will we get votes for APC to win? APC is my party; count me out of the talk going around, the person I was referring to in the video was in the meeting with me, that was why I quickly went to meet her that they said you should not go out and Iya Chukwudi is here with me.”
