Police Nab Three-Man Robbery Gang, Recover Arms, Stolen Tricycle

The operatives of the Anambra State Police Command have arrested a three-man robbery gang and recovered a tricycle and two pistols from them.

The incident happened at Neni in Anaocha Local Governemnt Area of the State.

Also, the command rescued an aged woman from an alleged cruel daughter and handed her over to the state government for adequate care.

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the command, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the incidents in two separate statements made available to newsmen on Sunday in Awka the state capital.

He said that robbery suspects had snatched a Tricycle from the owner in Agu-Awka on Saturday night.

The operatives of the command had smashed the gang members following information received from the Police in Awka that the hoodlums were  fleeing towards Anaocha Local Governement Area. 

The Police who were on patrol duty with the local vigilante laid an ambush for the robbers and got them apprehended. 

One Baretta Pistol and one locally made Chief Revolver Pistol, twelve rounds of life, and one expended ammunition were recovered from the three-man gang. 

The statement added that the Tricycle has also been recovered. 

The suspects arrested are  Ebuka Madu ‘M’ age 22years of Umunze, Chinedu Godwin ‘M’ age 23years from Enugu State, and Udegbunam Chikezie ‘M’ 18years of Neni. 

The state Commissioner of Police, CP Aderemi Adeoye assured members of the Public that the confidence reposed in the Command for the maintenance of law, order and pursuit of justice shall not be taken for granted. 

He also directed that the suspects be arraigned in court after a diligent investigation.

Similarly, men of the State Police Command attached to Abagana Division, on 15/7/2023, rescued an aged woman being cruelly treated by another woman at Umudunu village, Abagana.

The suspect Ukamaka Udeugbo ‘F’ aged 50 years who turned out to be her biological daughter in a video clip that went viral had flogged the naked aged woman repeatedly and threw buckets of water on her while she was lying on the floor.

Ukamaka was arrested and detained for prosecution.

The Commissioner of Police Anambra State, CP Aderemi Adeoye in reaction directed the transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigatve Department (SCID) in the public interest.

He also authorized that the aged woman be handed to the state Commissioner for Women Affairs for adequate care by the State Government.

The suspect is to be arraigned in court at the end of the investigation.
