Pastor Umo Eno wins A’Ibom PDP Gov’ship primary

Immediate past Commissioner for Lands and Housing in Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Bassey Eno, has emerged winner of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship primary conducted today in Uyo, the state capital.

Eno, who is the preferred candidate of Governor Udom Emmanuel pulled a total of 993 votes to beat 13 other contestants to emerge the PDP Governorship candidate for the 2023 general election.

A total of 1018 delegates were accredited to vote at the primary.

The Chairman of Akwa Ibom State PDP governorship primary and Deputy Governor of Edo State, Comrade Philip Shaibu, while announcing the result, said that Aniekan Etim scored 2 votes, Hon Mike Enyong had 1 vote, Senator Bassey Albert (OBA) scored 1 vote while Mr Akan Okon pulled 3 votes. Rt Hon Onofiok Luke got 3 votes, Umoh Idorenyin James 2 votes whole Mr. Ide Owodiong scored 1 vote.

Senator Bassey Albert Akpan and a serving member of the House of Representatives, Onofiok Luke had earlier pulled out of the race citing irregularities in the conduct of election to chose the ad-hoc delegates for the election and the Federal High Court order.

The Akwa Ibom State Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Resident Electoral Commissioner, Barr Mike Igini, alongside other officials of the Commission, were on hand to monitor the exercise in line with Constitutional provisions.
