PALACE AIDE LASISI MORENIKEJI, CONFIRMS SERVING THREE ALAAFIN 

Lasisi Morenikeji, a.k.a Babakekere, a 101 years old palace aide has served three consecutive Alaafin of Oyo .

The Centenarian told The Network at the palace of the foremost Yoruba Monarch in an interview on Monday that he has served three Alaafin of Oyo.


Morenikeji, said he was brought to the palace when he was 30 years old as an aide. 

The duration of service has made him the longest serving palace aide in the recorded history of Oyo kingdom.


He confirmed being an aide to the father of the immediate past Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Adeyemi 11 and Oba Ladigbolu and Oba Adeyemi 111.

Babakekere as he is fondly called to said he was treated like every other aides in the palace.


He said late Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi 111 was responsible for his wellbeing and education of his children.


The father of three said he owed everything in life to Oba Adeyemi, who he described as his benefactor.


According to him, the death of Oba Adeyemi has created a big vacuum that will be difficult to fill in Yorubaland.


He is not Alaafin of Oyo but Alaafin of Yorubaland.


Babakekere has appealed to the government of Oyo State build a monument in memory of the late Kabiyesi, noting his immense contribution to the preservation of the Yoruba culture
