One Million Man March: Peter Obi Supporters Take Over Streets In PH, Auchi, Benue, Afikpo

By Kamsi Anayo

Supporters of the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, have defied heavy rains across the country on Saturday to besiege the streets in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Auchi, Edo State, Makurdi, Benue State and Afikpo, Ebonyi State, in a one million march rally.

Our Correspondent reports that the one million march rally has a large turn up of youths dressed in crested shirts with the image of the former governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi and his vice-presidential candidate, Yusuf Baba-Ahmed.

Also, crested on the shirts is the party logo of the Labour Party.

Peter Obi, Labour Party presidential candidate in the build-up to the party’s presidential primaries defected to the Labour Party citing ideological differences.

He was a former member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) which has Atiku Abubakar as its presidential candidate.

He has promised the Nigerian youths that his mission is to take back the country from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the opposition PDP that was in power for 16 years and give back to them.

Peter Obi’s campaign promise of moving the country from consumption to production resonates well among the youths who see him as a saviour in a country ravaged by the corruption of the old political class.

In the 2019 general election, Peter Obi contested as a vice-presidential candidate under the PDP along with Atiku Abubakar, the Presidential Pandidate of the PDP.

The supporters of Peter Obi who call themselves ‘Obidients’ have been accused to be only social media based.

In what seems like proof of their determination to see to the success of their candidate come 2023 general election, the Obidients started a one million march rally across the country for sensitizations of the grassroots most of who are off the social media.

The first of the rallies started in Lafia in Nassarawa State before movinh to Calabar, Cross River State, to Owerri, Imo State.
