The operatives of the Department of State Services, DSS, on Monday intercepted some members of organised syndicates involved in the sale of the new redesigned naira notes.
The operation exposed some of the syndicates in the banking sector who are facilitating the illicit currency trading and trafficking of the new redesigned naira notes.
Public Relations Officer Department of State Services, National Headquarters, Abuja, Peter Afunanya, in a statement on Monday, said that some Commercial Bank officials were aiding the dastardly act.
Afunanya said the Service frowns at the currency racketeers and warned them to desist from the ignoble act.
He stated that appropriate regulatory authorities are urged to step up monitoring and supervisory activities to expeditiously address the emerging trends.
