By Kamsi Anayo

The late Mr Emmanuel Chukwuemeka and the late Mrs Chinwendu Miriam Ezeaku Chukwuemeka, husband and wife reportedly kidnapped and murdered  by their assailants have been laid to rest.

The couple was buried in their home town, Isiekwulu, Ukpo, Dunukofia Local Government, Anambra state on Thursday leaving community in deep mourning.

The two were said to be  returning from Holy Ghost Adoration at Uke, when they were kidnapped.

It was gathered that the late couple was with their 4-month-old baby, whom the kidnappers abandoned in the car and whisked the couple away.

Family members reportedly paid the kidnappers the sum N5m in the first instance. However, the kidnappers demanded another  N2.5m. But it took time before fulfilling the demand as the family sold part of their lands to generate the money.

The kidnappers after collecting the complete  ransom switched their cell phones.

Surprisingly, about two months after,  what the family recovered were dead bodies left in a most dehumanizing manner along Uke- Nnobi road in chains.

The late lady,  Mariam Ezeaku (nee Muomaife) hails from Okija. She was a distinction graduate of 2019, Department of Fine and Applied Arts (Textile), Federal Polytechnic, Oko and was popularly known as “Omega White” by her friends.
