Kwara Gov. appoints Prof. Ademola Alabi As Thomas Adewumi Teaching Hospital CMD

News Investigators/ Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has approved the appointment of Prof. Ademola Popoola as the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the newly designated Thomas Adewumi Teaching Hospital, Omu-Aran.

This is according to a statement issued on Saturday by Mrs Hamdalat Saad, the Press Secretary, Kwara Ministry of Health.

The statement said  the appointment followed the signing of a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Kwara Government and Thomas Adewumi University, Oko.

She explained that the signing of the MoU officially converted the General Hospital, Omu-Aran, into the university’s teaching hospital.

Reacting to the development, the Kwara Commissioner for Health, Amina El-Imam, noted that his appointment represented a strategic step by the State Government to provide visionary leadership.

According to her, this will drive the hospital toward global standards in medical training, research, and service delivery.

Mrs El-Imam further described the appointment as a bold initiative which will develop the university’s medical training programmes.

She added that it would also expand access to quality healthcare services for the people of Kwara and beyond.

“With this appointment, the Kwara Government has once again demonstrated its dedication to building a healthier, stronger, and more prosperous future for its citizens,” she said.
