The kidnappers of the Nasarawa State Commissioner of Information, Culture and Tourism, Mr. Yakubu Lawal, have released him.
The Spokesman of the State Police Command, DSP Ramhan Nansel, confirmed the release of the Commissioner in a statement in Lafia on Friday.
The Police Spokesman said that the Commissioner was released around 6pm and has since been reunited with his family.
He said that while the police have not arrested any of those being the dastardly act, efforts would be made to apprehend them.
Lawal was kidnapped by over 10 gunmen at his residence in the headquarters of Nasarawa Eggon Local Government Area of the state at about 9:45 p.m on Monday.
The Network had reported the gunmen stormed Lawal’s residence in motorcycles and shot repeatedly into the air to scare away the residents as they whisked him away.
