I’m Not Vying For Election In 2027 – Ortom

News Investigators/ The immediate past governor of Benue, Samuel Ortom, said on Saturday that he is not vying for any elective position in the 2027 general elections.

Mr Ortom made the clarification in a statement signed by Dr Terver Akase, his Media Adviser/Consultant and made available to newsmen in Makurdi.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that there were social media reports that Ortom has declared his intention to contest for the Benue North-West Senatorial seat in 2027.

“I have no intention whatsoever to contest any elective office in 2027. I have said this clearly, publicly, and repeatedly.

“I expect that a position stated this plainly would not require translation or creative reinterpretation,” he said.

The former governor emphasised his commitment to supporting democratic ideals, strengthening the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), and offering statesmanlike guidance and not to chase elective office in 2027.

He urged the public to treat the report for what it is: “a fabrication”.
