Rampaging Gunmen have razed the country home of the Peoples Democratic Party Candidate for Okigwe State Constituency of Imo State House of Assembly, Ifeanyi Ozoemena.
The residence was burnt at Umuokparaoha, Umulolo community in the Okigwe council area of the state.
Ozoemena said that the gun-wielding arsonists burnt both his house and that of his father in the dastardly act.
He said that the gun men struck around 2 pm on Tuesday and supervised the burning of the properties.
He confirmed that no life was lost in the attack as his aged parents were outside when the gunmen struck.
“My house and that of my father at Umuokparaoha village in Umulolo community in the Okigwe Local Government Area of Imo State were razed on Tuesday.
“They struck around 2pm, set the houses on fire and supervised the burning. The two houses and the properties got destroyed in the attack. They operated unchallenged. I am distraught. This is unfortunate.
“I call on the commissioner of police to intervene. I am grateful that no life was lost. My aged parents were not around when they struck.” He said
The Network investigation revealed that the gunmen razed the two properties by throwing explosives into the compound.
Political violence and killings in Imo have been on the increase recently.
Gunmen killed the ward chairman of the All Progressives Congress in Umuchoke ward in Okwe in the Onuimo Local Government of Imo State, Christian Ihim in January.
The gunmen also abducted five other chieftains of the party in the community.
It was further gathered that the rampaging gunmen also killed a female chieftain of the party identified as Onyinyechi Egenti at a neighboring community, Okwelle.
Sources say that the murdered chairman was a former aide of a former national Organising Secretary of APC, Emma Ibediro.
Gunmen had beheaded the Sole Administrator of the Ideato North Local Government Area of Imo State, Chris Ohizu on January 23.

The council boss was kidnapped alongside two others after his home at Imoko community in Arondizuogu area of the LGA was razed.
He was reportedly shot before he was whisked away by his abductors.
Videos of his beheading surfaced online to the shock of Nigerians.
Two others who were with him during the time of the attack in the early hours of Friday were also kidnapped.
Also, the residence of the spokesperson of Coalition of United Political Parties, Ugochinyere Imo, was attacked at Akokwa community in the Ideato North LGA, with three persons killed and about 33 vehicles razed on January 14.
The long list of those m murdered in cold blood include Orlu APC LGA woman leader, Jenny Rachael Okonkwo (Iron Lady); Nze Chidi Ejiaka; Barr. Darlington Odume; Nze Nwachukwu Igboayaka; Mrs. Helen Nnakwe; Collins Okey Agah, Chukwudi Dimagwu; Eddy Ofuefule; all APC chieftains from Orlu, and many others as well as Emma Mazi, former IMC chairman of Oguta LGA.
Gunmen also burnt the house of the state Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Emeka Okoronkwo, in Ihube community in Okigwe LGA in February.
Police Spokesman confirmed the latest arson on the residence of the PDP Assembly Candidate in the March 11, house of assembly elections.
