President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday presented the Public Service Integrity Award to a Divisional Police Officer, Daniel Amah, a Superintendent of Police, in Kano State.
Amah rejected a bribe of $200,000 from a Bureau De Change Operator, Ali Zaki, who connived with other criminally-minded individuals to rob a citizen of $750,000.
The DPO displayed exceptional courage to turn down the multi million Naira bribe and ensured effective prosecution of the suspects.
The President conferred the award on the police officer for his demonstration of exceptional courage and integrity in the discharge of his duties.
The President presented the award to the Plateau born police officer, at the 4th National Summit on Diminishing Corruption in the Public sector, with the theme, ‘Corruption and the Education Sector’ in Abuja.
The Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Prof Bolaji Owasanoye recommended The Police Superintendent for the award.
The President congratulated the recipient of the award, and commended the ICPC Chairman, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation and the Registrar of JAMB, for organizing the summit and bringing together the three arms of Government, MDAs and other stakeholders to deliberate on corruption in the educational sector of Nigeria.
