BREAKING: Labour Declares Nationwide Strike Nov. 14

By Kamsi Anayo

The organized Labour led by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) has announced a total nationwide strike to kick off on Tuesday, November 14, 2023.

The leadership of the two unions reached the resolution after extraordinary National Executive Council meetings of the two centres on Tuesday in Abuja.

The labour leaders are saying that the nationwide mobilization of members and allies began immediately.

This move by the Organised Labour follows the brutalisation of NLC National President, Comrade Joe Ajaero last week during a rally in Imo State.

The Imo state commissioner of police, Mohammed Barde, was accused by the Organised Labour of participating in the recent attack on Ajaero, in Owerri.

The Organised Labour last Friday handed the Federal Government a five-day ultimatum to replace the police commissioner.

It also blamed Governor Hope Uzodimma who is seeking re-election for the attack on Ajaero though the governor had since said he had no hand in the attack on the labour leader.
