News Investigators/ The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 1 Division, Nigerian Army, Maj.-Gen. Abubaka Wase, has charged troops to sustain tempo in the ongoing operation to deny bandits freedom of action in the division.
The Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, 1 Division Nigerian Army, Lt.-Col. Shuaib Umar said this in a statement on Wednesday in Kaduna.
Wase who doubles as Commander, Sector 1 Joint Task Force, North West Operation Fansan Yamma, gave the charge on Tuesday when he visited troops of 31 Artillery Brigade at Minna Military Cantonment Niger State.
He charged the troops to sustain tempo in the ongoing operation to deny bandits freedom of action in the Division’s Area of Responsibility.
He commended the troops for their resilience and discipline while discharging their constitutional mandates to restore peace in Niger State in particular and Nigeria in general.
He also urged them to uphold professionalism, ensure force protection and assured them of sound administration in line with the COAS ‘Soldier First Concept’.
The GOC reiterated the Nigerian Army resolve to restore normalcy in the North West region in order to encourage massive participation in agriculture and other business activities in compliance with the Federal Government’s drive at ensuring food security in the country.
He further charged unit commanders to take soldiers welfare with utmost priority as it formed one of the Cardinals of the Chief of Army Staff Command Philosophy.
Earlier, Wase who was received and briefed by the Commander, 31 Artillery Brigade, Brig.-Gen. M.U Jibo, conducted a tree planting exercise as well as embarked on a guided tour of the 313 Artillery Regiment Hall of Fame and Troops Training Area.
The GOC was also at the Training and Doctrine Command where he was received by the Commander, Maj.-Gen. Kevin Aligbe, represented by Maj.-Gen. JAL Jimoh, the Chief of Doctrine and Combat Development.
He also paid a courtesy visit to former Military President, Gen. Ibrahim Babangida and the Emir of Minna, Alhaji Umar Bahago, as well as the governor of Niger at the Government House, Minna and was received by the Deputy Governor, Yakubu Garba on behalf of the state governor.
