Alia Commends Security Agencies For Rescue Of Worshippers In Benue

News Investigators/ Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia has commended security agencies for rescuing nine Catholic worshippers from St. John Catholic Church in Ojije, Utonkon Community in Ado Local Government Area.

Mr Alia gave the commendation in a statement signed by his Technical Adviser on Media, Publicity, and Strategic Communication, Mr Solomon Iorpev, and made available to newsmen on Sunday in Makurdi.

The governor expressed gratitude to God for the safe return of the worshippers.

He emphasised that security was the foundation of development, and his administration would continue to strengthen collaboration with federal security agencies and all relevant stakeholders.

The governor said his administration would continue to ensure that communities live without fear and Benue remains a land of peace, justice, and coexistence.

Mr Alia reassured the people that security forces and local vigilante groups would continue to work together to combat kidnapping and prevent future occurrences.

The governor advised residents to stay alert and report suspicious activities to security agencies.

He said he gave a marching order for the immediate release of the kidnapped victims during the February 13 meeting comprising the Idoma traditional council and top security officials in the state at Och’Idoma palace in Otukpo.

Mr Alia said that the rescued children, comprising 6 girls and 3 boys, were receiving care and support.
