Across Mountains And Seas: A Story Of Culture And Integration

News Investigators/ Across Mountains and Seas is yet another exciting mini – reality show on the China-Africa series. It runs alongside debut last week The Across Mountains and Seas series includes three feature episodes: Here Comes Jimi, The Purple Tea Adventure and Messenger of Joy. Each episode highlights a representative element of Chinese intangible cultural heritage: martial arts, tea culture and Liuyang fireworks. It explores how they have taken root and integrated with local culture in Belt and Road countries. The documentary features stories such as Shanmao & Jimi, a classic Hunan animation, making its way into Africa; the encounter between traditional Chinese tea-making craftsmanship and Africa’s unique purple tea; and Kenyan traders participating in the design of a Liuyang Sky Theater fireworks show. Filmed in real-life settings across Kenya, the episodes offer an authentic glimpse into local customs, landscapes, and everyday life, vividly showcasing the fusion and mutual enrichment of diverse cultures. The series consists of three episodes, with a total runtime of 30 minutes and 12 seconds, and is presented in Chinese with English subtitles.
