The Running Mate to the Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party, and founder of Base University, Dr Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed has intervened in the issue of the prevention of 185 students under the scholarship scheme of the Presidential Amnesty Programme from writing the first semester examination in the institution over outstanding school fees.
The authorities of Base University had thrown out the students from the multi purpose hall of the University where they were already seated to write the
examination into Digital Entrepreneurship (GEN 201).
However, the Interim Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, Maj Gen Barry Ndiomu (retd) responded swiftly by deploying the Head of Reintegration, Mr Wilfred Musa, and official of the Education Unit to resolve the impasse.
The Network investigation revealed that the Interim Administrator of the Amnesty Programme had earlier written Base University to notify the institution of a possible delay of the payment of the school fees because of budgetary constraints.
In spite of the appeal, the institution took a decision to prevent the students from writing the first semester examination in pursuit of the outstanding fees to the shock of the PAP.
Determined to ensure that the students’ are not deprived from writing the first semester examination, the Amnesty team sought the audience with Baba-Ahmed who graciously granted the request for the students to resume writing the examination on Friday.
Investigation revealed that the students are back to the examination hall with the decision of institution’s founder.
He was said to have accepted the request to allow the students to write the examination while the office makes moves to settle the outstanding fees.
A top official of the office said on Thursday night that , “The Proprietor of Baze University has given the nod for our delegates to resume their examination tomorrow (Friday.)
“A team from Reintegration Department will be despatched to the School tomorrow to observe and escort the re-admittance process and report back accordingly too.”
The Network investigation revealed that Baba-Ahmed was unaware of the sudden unexpected development involving the students and ensured that students were immediate returned to the examination halls.
