Consequently,  LASTMA has mobilised more than  2,500 officers for the task.

This is contained in a statement issued by Taofiq Adebayo, Director, Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department, LASTMA, on Sunday in Lagos.

Mr Adebayo quoted the Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation, Mr Sola Giwa, as saying that directive was to ensure unimpeded traffic flow throughout Lagos State before, during and after the Yuletide.

He listed the strategic  areas to include Ikoyi, Lekki, Victoria Island and Ajah.

“The governor’s directive prioritises immediate clearance of obstructions and incidents that can disrupt vehicular and pedestrian movement.

“This underscores the administration’s unwavering commitment to facilitating safe and efficient transportation for residents and visitors during the festive period,” Adedayo quoted Giwa as  saying.

He said that  LASTMA’s General Manager, Olalekan Bakare-Oki,  urgently complied with the directive and mobilised more than 2,500 officers.

Mr Adebayo said that the officers were strategically deployed and equipped with advanced traffic management tools.

“These tools include heavy-duty and mini towing vehicles to key locations across the state.

“These officers will engage in round-the-clock monitoring and execute real-time traffic interventions, particularly in historically congested areas such as Ikoyi, Obalende, Victoria Island and the Lekki-Ajah axis,” he said.

He quoted  Bakare-Oki as affirming LASTMA’s readiness to ensure that Lagos residents would enjoy seamless mobility before, during and after the season.

“Our personnel are fully equipped and strategically positioned to promptly address any traffic challenges that may arise.

“This initiative aligns with the governor’s vision of a Lagos where mobility remains unhindered,” he quoted Bakare-Oki as saying.

According to Mr Adebayo,  Mr Bakare-Oki appealed to the state residents to cooperate with traffic managers and adhere to  traffic regulations to facilitate smooth operations.

He added that Mr Bakare-Oki reiterated LASTMA’s dedication to maintaining order on Lagos roads and providing timely assistance to road users.

“This proactive intervention by the Lagos State Government reaffirms its unwavering resolve to enhance traffic management and ensure a joyous, stress-free Yuletide season for all.

“In case of any urgent report on traffic-related matters across the state, the LASTMA toll-free hotline 080000527862 is available for monitoring public,” he also quoted  Bakare-Oki as saying.
