…….Calls for unity among various interest groups

The non actualization of the Yoruba nation has been attributed to the insincerity of some self-centred leaders and politicians from the South West.
Disclosing this at the inauguration of the committees of the coalition of the various interests’ groups under the aegis of the Yoruba Self-Determination Organizations Homeland in Ibadan on Wednesday, its National leader, Dr. Victor Taiwo noted with dismay the disposition of some leaders and notable politicians from the zone towards the actualization of the Yoruba agenda.
He stated that politicians from the zone placed their personal interests above the collective interest of the people from the region.
He added that their main concern is how to win the election not minding the atrocities perpetrated by the people from another region.
Taiwo added that the present security situation in the region is appalling, especially the heinous act being perpetrated by the Fulani herders which has resulted in the death of innocent people across the states in the South West region.
He said the worsening insecurity in the country led to the formation of the Western Nigeria Security Network code named Operation Amotekun.
However, he said it is sad to note that the lofty idea muted by the various Yoruba interest groups which was subsequently hijacked by the respective states government from the region has failed in its bid to arrest the security situation.
According to him, the Yoruba World Congress, (YWC) decided to propagate the idea of Amotekun but when the Governors saw no action on the part of the propagator they took over the project and ran it in their own shoddy independent manner.
“What went along with the failings from YWC and the shoddy arrangements erected by each state was the resurgence of the terrorists this time in an unharnessed, unbridled burst whose high tempo in the leash remains with us till today.”
However, the convener of the meeting, therefore, called on the various interests’ groups in the region to come together under the same umbrella in fighting the cause of Yoruba race.
He stated that the region has been taken over by the foreigners, and in order to avert the impending danger, there is need to mobilize manpower and resources to keep them at bay.
“I am appealing to all and sundry both in homeland and the Diaspora concerned with our plight to come to our aid banking on my leadership, record of credibility, integrity, probity, honesty, accountability and all the characters of a decent citizen you can identify.
