The Governor of Rivers State, Governor Nyesom Wike on Wednesday night hosted the governors of Cross River State, Prof. Ben Ayade and Ebonyi State, Dave Umahi.
One of the five PDP Governors in the Wike Camp, the Governor of Abia State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, was part of the meeting.
The visit came as a surprise to many as the two governors were seen as political enemies of Wike having had harsh media exchanges with him.
Ayade and Umahi sneaked into the
Wike’s country home at Rumueprikon, Obio-Akpor Local Government Area of the state on Wednesday night for a closed door meeting.
The Network gathered that the visit might not be unconnected with the fall out of the crisis rocking the People’s Democratic Party.
Both Ayade and Umahi were elected Governor under the Peoples Democratic Party but defected to the APC in their second tenure.
Wike has been in the forefront of the demand of Southern Nigerian for the Presidency in 2023 after eight years of Buhari administration
A source who confided in the Network said that the APC Governors were in the state to seek the support of the Governor and his people for their party in the next election
