Fresh facts have emerged on why the All Progressives Congress, APC, former
minister of states for Education, Emeka Nwajiuba abandoned the ongoing party primary election.
The ruling All Progressives Congress primary is going on at the moment with the counting of votes.
Former Lagos State Governor, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu’s name is dominating the counted votes.
Disclosing on why the former Minister didn’t show up to address his delegates, the elder brother to the presidential aspirant, Prof Chinedu Nwajiuba, stated that his younger brother, Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, refused to address party delegates because the leaders of the party abandoned the agreement reached concerning the Consensus.
According to him, leaders of the party at the top level reneged on agreement and understanding that informed his entering into the presidential race.
The former Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Agriculture, Alike, Ebonyi State, said his younger brother had an understanding from the highest levels of the party from the onset and considering his pivotal role in the founding of the APC but failed to honour the agreement.
According to Prof Nwajiuba, he was forced to react to the situation because of numerous calls he has been receiving over the action of the ex-Minister of State, Education.
According to him, there was an understanding that the party would zone the ticket to the South, then South-East and that the candidate would emerge via consensus.
He added that his younger brother does not want to be involved in the dollarised and Naira Bazaar’that the Convention turn out to be and had to excuse himself.
In a statement signed by Prof. Nwajiuba, reads: “Many friends are calling to find out why my brother, Dr Hon. Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba did not come out to address the APC convention.
“Simple, the understanding from the highest levels prior to his involvement, and considering his role in the founding of the APC, was that of consensus as was with the National Chairmanship a few months ago.
“With that understanding, the Presidential ticket was to come to the South and the southeast.
“This has been the hope till the end of the negotiations. He, not wanting to be part of the Dollar and Naira bazaar, is convinced that what Nigeria needs now is no more of the same thing that has kept Nigeria at the low level it has been.
“Our challenges as a country cannot be addressed at the same energy level by which they were created
“God order our footsteps towards a better life for all Nigerians. God bless you”. He stated.
The Network investigation revealed that Nwajiuba was too convinced that he had the backing of the President and the Party to clinch the ticket.
The source close to him said that the former Minister of State was so optimistic that he did not devote his time to the gave procuring votes from delegates.
It was further gathered that Nwajiuba who resigned his appointment and paid N100 million for the expression of interest and nomination form of the Party was too shocked by the disappointed to address the convention.
