Useni Nigeria’s Power House, Institutional Library – Atiku

News Investigators/ Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar has described the passing of a former FCT Minister, Lt.-Gen. Jeremiah Useni, as a monumental loss of ‘a power house and institutional library’ of the country.

Abubakar, in a condolence message issued by his Media Adviser, Paul Ibe on Friday in Abuja, said Useni was a man of illustrious career and personality.

He described the former minister of Transport and former senator as a fine soldier, astute public administrator, people-oriented politician and a kindhearted peace lover and conflict mediator.

Abubakar said that the ever-smiling army top gun was a jolly good fellow, famously known in social circles as ‘Merry Jerryman’ for his affable and amiable character.

“The great deeds of Gen. Useni towards nation building are too tangible and visible to be obliterated in a jiffy,” he stated.

The former vice-president commiserated with the military, with which the deceased served with distinction and the people of Plateau, whom Useni represented as a senator.

He prayed God to grant the deceased soul eternal rest as well as strength and comfort to his family to pull through the moment of bereavement and grief.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Useni died on Thursday after a protracted illness at the age of 82.
