Unknown Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers, have kidnapped Benue State Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Mr. Matthew Abo.
The Network gathered that Matthew Abo, was abducted from his residence in Zaki-Biam at about 8pm on Sunday, 24 September, 2023.
An eye witness who spoke to our correspondent on condition of annmonity said that the kidnappers came on four motorcycles, ordered everyone in the house including the commissioner’s wife and children to lie face down and took him away to an unknown destination on one of the motorcycles.
The witness further said the abductors compelled the commissioner at gun point to sit behind the rider of one of the motorcycles and sandwitched him.
Abo was sworn in as a member of the Benue State Executive Council on August 29th, 2023.
He hails from Ukum local government area which has been a major flashpoint of criminal activities with rampant killings and kidnappings in recent times.
When contacted, Benue State Command Police Public Relations Officer SP Sewuese Anene confirmed the incident, saying investigation has commenced.
“Kidnap of the Commissioner of Information, Culture Tourism is confirmed. Investigation is ongoing please”, Anene disclosed.
