UATH Rewards Staff Members For Outstanding Performance

News Investigators/  The University of Abuja Teaching Hospital (UATH) has appreciated and rewarded some members of staff for their outstanding performance of excellence in the discharge of their duties.

Prof. Bissallah Ekele, the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the hospital, gave the appreciation at the 2024 UATH Annual Staff and Corporate Awards in Gwagwalada on Wednesday.

Ekele said that the award was a way of encouraging the hardwork of the winners and also encouraging others to put in their best in the discharge of their duties towards saving lives.

He said that the award was introduced in 2018 to celebrate and recognise members of staff that have distinguished themselves in service delivery at the various units and departments of the hospital.

According to him,   every member of staff is a winner considering the volume and quality of work they do in the hospital all year round.

“We have first among equals; the awardees should continue with their hardwork. Everybody is a winner if you consider the volume and quality of work staff of this hospital do all year round.

“Whoever that has done well, we expect you to even do more ,” he said.

He said that the Sevicom unit,   which has the responsibility to monitor activities in the hospital was in charge of the award.

Ekele appreciated the unit for its relentless efforts in organising the annual award over the past seven years.

The Pioneer CMD, UATH, Danjuma sulai,  advised members of staff to always excel in whatever they do, adding that they should strive to get to the peak.

Mr Sulai urged the awardees to work harder in order to gain more prizes.

Similarly, Anthony Bawa, Chairman, 2024 Staff Award Committee and Servicom Nodal Officer said that the award was to appreciate unconditional commitment to be a blessing to lives.

Mr Bawa said that the awardees were not chosen by the committee or by themselves but were nominated by members of their various departments.

“This award is an appreciation of hardwork. We did not hand pick the awardees,  rather it came from people in each department and the person with the highest nomination is the best,” he said.

Muhammadu Magaji, the Aguma of Gwagwalada, said that every performance had a reward, adding that they should perform more.

Mr Magaji who was represented by the Waziri of Gwagwalada, Garba Madaki, advised members of staff to always discharge their duties effectively in any position they found themselves.

One of the Awardees, Manchan Dodo, who won the award of best Resident Doctor, Paediatrics,  appreciated the management for recognising her efforts.

“I am excited and happy about this award.

“I want to appreciate the management for this recognition, it shows that hardwork pays, and it will give me the opportunity to work harder,” she said.

The News Agency of Nigeria NAN (NAN), reports that the highlights of the event was a cash presentation to the 2024 best department/unit which was the Amenity Unit and the best staff of the year,  Muhammed Garba, a pharmacist.

There was also  special recognition of five deserving members of staff and some Corporate Organisation, like the House of Representatives wives Association, South-South Zone.
