TWO UNDERPRICED LAGOS BUILDINGS NOT SOLD UNDER CHAIRMANSHIP OF MARWA – NDLEA

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, on Friday corrected a false media reports that two buildings, in Adeniyi Jones Ikeja and Ikoyi areas of Lagos forfeited in drug prosecution cases but were sold at underpriced amounts took place in 2001 and not 2021.

According to the NDLEA, there has been a media erroneous media reports that the two forfeited buildings were sold in 2021, under the Chairmanship of the retired general Buba Marwa the current chairman of the NDLEA.

The former military administrator of Lagos and Borno States, Brig-Gen. Mohammed Buba Marwa (rtd),  was appointed as the Chairman/CEO of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) by President Muhammadu Buhari in January 2021.

A statement by the Director, Media and Advocacy, NDLEA Headquarters, Abuja, Femi Babafemi, on Friday said some media platforms reported a press briefing by the Hon. Minister of Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola, on the decision of the Federal Executive Council, FEC.

According to Fashola, FG should demand from buyers of the two buildings the appropriate prices as at the 2001 when they were sold as against the underpriced amounts. 

But the statement by Babafemi stated that some media channels erroneously reported that the buildings were sold in 2021. 

“This clarification is therefore to correct the wrong impression following calls by concerned members of the public who have been calling top officials of the Agency to clarify the mix up in the year of sale of the properties in reference

“For clarity purpose, NDLEA did not auction any property in 2021 or 2022” The statement reads.
