Troops rescue three Kidnap victims in Benue

Exercise Enduring Peace III,  has rescued three kidnap victims in Gwer West Local Government Area, (LGA), of Benue state.

Special Adviser to Benue State Governor on Security and Internal Affairs, Chief Joseph Har, disclosed this in a statement made available to newsmen in Makurdi on Thursday.

He explained that the victims were rescued following intelligence he gathered and passed to the Commanding Officer of the troops,  Lt Col Kefas.

Recall that the troops, made up of soldiers if 72 battalion and 401 brigade, had last month rescued seven kidnap  victims in Ogumula village, Ohimini Local Government Area, (LGA), of the state.

Har said the troops during a patrol along Naka – Makurdi road, sighted some criminals attempting to rob and kidnap some locals.

He explained that on sighting the troops, the kidnappers ran in disarray leaving behind the victims.

“The  troops gave them a good chase into the bush and rescued three persons.

 “The criminals were attempting to rob and kidnap locals along the Naka road and on sighting on troops, they ran in disarray leaving behind the victims. 

“The troops further pursued them into the bushes and three civilians were rescued.”

” Let me use this medium to commend  the troops for their success so far.

 “I’m appealingly  Benue people to always  be vigilante and report all suspicious persons and movements to security agencies in the state for prompt action.
