TINUBU WITHDRAWS NOMINATION OF 24-YEAR OLD IMAM AS FERMA BOARD CHAIRMAN

President Bola Tinubu has withdrawn  the nomination of Engr. Imam Kashim Imam as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA).

The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, said that the withdrawal was with immediate effect.

Ngelale said that the directive for withdrawal does not affect all other appointments to the Board and Executive Management team of FERMA.

The appointment of the 24-year-old Imam on October 13 by the President “for a renewable term of four (4) years, in accordance with Section 2(3) of the FERMA Amendment Act, 2007’ triggered serious condemnation.

Although the Presidency did not give reasons for the withdrawal of the nomination, it might not be unconnected with the strong reservations expressed widely about his nomination.

Many had observed that a 24-year old lacks the requisite experience to be Chairman of the Board of FERMA.
