The Secretary of the Rivers State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress in Akukutoru Local Government Area, Hon. Onimiteim Vincent Samuel, has died in an auto crash.
The Network gathered that five other delegates in the last APC Presidential primaries received various degrees of injury when the the Sienna car in which they were returning to Port Harcourt summersaulted in Abuja.
A passenger who survived the accident, Innocent Amadi said while speaking to a popular Radio station in Port Harcourt, Nigerian Info monitored by our correspondent said the crash occurred at about 8am on Thursday near the University of Abuja Staff quarters.
According to him the driver of the car which was on high speed stepped suddenly on the brake pedal with another vehicle in front leading the car to summersault.
He said that five out of the seven passengers in the vehicle were injured and were receiving medical attention at the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital.
He said, “Our vehicle was on high speed. So, in the process there was another vehicle before him.
“Because he was on high speed, he couldn’t control, he applied the breaks and the wheeled pulled out.
” The motor summersaulted. I was in front of the vehicle. I came out unhurt. I fastened my seat belt though we lost one person. “Five persons were injured,” he stated.
The late Samuel and other delegates were traveling to Port Harcourt after successfully participating at the APC Presidential Primaries held at Eagle Square, Abuja.
Meanwhile, the APC Presidential Candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has expressed sadness over the death of the delegate and prayed to God for the eternal repose of the soul of the departed.
Tinubu who spoke through the Spokesman of his campaign Organisation, Bayo Onanuga, condoled with the leadership of the Rivers APC and the family of the deceased on the sudden death.
“The Tinubu Campaign Office received with shock the death of Hon. Onimiteim Vincent Samuel, the secretary of our great party, the APC in Akukutoru Local Government Area of Rivers State and others yet to be identified in a vehicular accident on their way from Abuja.
“On behalf of the presidential candidate of our great party, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, we commiserate with the family and our party leaders in the state.
“The death of grassroots leaders of our party in such tragic circumstances is saddening.
“We pray for the repose of their souls and urge party members to dedicate themselves to ensure that the victory of our party which they fought for is achieved.” He said
