SUSPENDED EFCC CHAIRMAN ARRIVES DSS FOR INTERROGATION

The suspended Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Abdulrasheed Bawa has arrived  the office Department of State Services for questioning.

The Spokesman of the DSS, Peter Afunanya said in a statement on Wednesday night that Bawa was invited after his suspension from office by the President 

The statement read, “The Department of State Services has invited Abdulrasheed Bawa, the suspended Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission. Bawa arrived a few hours ago. The invitation relates to some investigative activities concerning him.”

President Bola Tinubu had suspended Bawa indefinitely, with immediate effect.

A statement on Wednesday night from the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation stated that Bawa was suspended to ensure investigation into his conduct during office.

Director, Information, Mr. Willie Bassey said that Bawa has been directed to hand over to the Director of Operations of the Commission.

He said, “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,GCFR, has approved the indefinite suspension from office of Mr. AbdulRasheed Bawa, CON,  as the Chairman, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to allow for proper investigation into his conduct while in office. 

“This follows weighty allegations of abuse of office levelled against him.

“Mr Bawa has been directed to immediately handover the affairs of his office to the Director, Operations in the Commission, who will oversee the affairs of the Office of the Chairman of the Commission pending the conclusion of the investigation.”
