Sule Launches New Public Service Rule, Announce Bonus For Workers

News Investigators/ Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, has launched the state’s new public service rule to guide workers in the discharge of their duties.

Mr Sule also announced an undisclosed amount as end-of-year bonus for state civil servants.

The governor made the announcement at the Nasarawa State Civil Service Week on Tuesday in Lafia.

Mr Sule, however, said that the state government would have announced  13th month salary as bonus for workers, but for the local government areas that were not doing so well to pay the same amount.

“So, because of that, we will ask the LGAs to go and do their due process, and find out how much they saved and tell me what percentage they can pay.

“The moment they tell me this is the percentage they can pay, that is exactly what the state can get.

“I don’t want to go ahead and say i’m paying 13 months and LGAs will say they can only pay 30 to 40 percent,” he said.

Mr Sule said the civil service week had offered another opportunity to appraise the civil service of Nasarawa State as not just a workforce, but a living institution made up of people who are committed to excellence, integrity, and innovation.

The governor said the theme of the civil service week; “Repositioning the Civil Service. For a Digital Aid Production Future” is well conceived at a time when the government is committed to making digital governance a key priority.

“I should mention that in this age of global digital transformation, no government can afford to operate without data tools, methods, and mindset.

“The civil service must evolve into a smart, technology-driven, and data-informed organisation capable of responding swiftly and effectively to the needs of the good people of Nasarawa state.

“This is why we are laying the foundation for a paperless, efficient and transparent public administration through the ongoing digitalisation of human resource systems, payroll management, and record-keeping to build a public service that is not only productive, but also future-ready,” he said.

Sule applauded the All Progressives Congress (APC) government under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu for all the economic reforms that enabled  the state to execute projects without borrowing money.

He also used the occasion to reward some workers for their punctuality and dedicated service.

Those rewarded include Comfort David, who got N1 million, Amina Idris N500 thousand and Chinasa Azubini N500 thousand respectively.

Earlier, Abigail Waya, Nasarawa State Head of Civil Service, commended the governor for his support to workers.

She said that  the Civil Service Week was marked with a long list of activities and promised to institutionalise it.

Waya tasked the workers to be more dedicated and punctual, urging them to obtain the new public service rule to guide them in the cause of discharging their duties.
