Son Kills Father in Akwa Ibom

•••Another Burns Friend To Death Over Phone Charger

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested one Joseph Friday, a 25-year-old son for killing his father on on the allegation that the deceased hypnotised him in a dream.

The suspect was said to have beaten the father to death, and dragged the lifeless body to the road.

Friday, who admitted to the crime told newsmen on Tuesday in Uyo that his father usually appeared to him in the dream and hypnotises him.

According to him, whenever he was hypnotised by the deceased, something like a tortoise will enter his body and he will begin to act mentally unstable. 

He said: “My Father used charm on me, he appeared in my dream and hypnotises me. Whenever he appears, something like tortoise enters my body and I start to behave abnormally. I am a 25 years old farmer, I hit my father with my hand and he died.”

The Commissioner of Police in Akwa Ibom State, Mr Olatoye Durosinmi, said the suspect’s mother reported the incident to the police, leading to his arrest.

He said: “Relying on a petition, dated 19th December, 2022 from one Mrs. Eno Friday Wilson of Edebom 1 village in Nsit Ibom LGA, about the murder of her husband one Friday Wilson Usanga ‘m’ age 65 yrs old of same address;

“Operatives of Nsit Ibom Division arrested one Joseph Friday ‘m’ son of the deceased who killed his father by beating him to death. Suspect confessed to the crime and further stated that he dragged the lifeless body of his father to the road after beating him to death,” he stated.

Similarly, the police boss also announced the arrest of another murder suspect, one Akpan Okon Akpan,  said to have burnt his friend to death over a phone charger.

He said: “On 15th December, 2022 relying on petition from Rev. Emmanuel Ime ‘m’ of Ikot Ekwere Ubium Village in Nsit Ublum LGA at about 6:30Ppm Operatives of the Homicide unit of the SCID Uyo, arrested one Akpan Okon Akpan ‘m’ of same address who poured fuel on his brother, one Junior Ime Philip and set him ablaze leading to his death because of a disagreement over a phone charger.

“He ran into my shop and said he was looking for someone and then picked a bottle and started a fight in my shop. I sell engine oil, petrol and kerosene. Till I poured the petrol on him, I didn’t know; till it happened, I didn’t know. 

“I never knew the guy before. That was the first day I saw him. He came into my shop asking for someone,  that the person holds his charger and I told him the person was not around. He then picked a bottle and started a fight with me.” He said.
