The Senate has confirmed Mr Olayemi Cardoso as the substantive Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria.
Also confirmed alongside Cardoso were the four deputy governors of the apex bank, Emem Nnana Usoro, Muhammad Sani Abdullahi Dattijo, Philip Ikeazor, and Bala Bello.
The President of Senate, Godswill Akpabio,,made the disclosure during plenary on Tuesday.
The Senate commenced the screening of Cardoso and the four deputy governors after hours of closed door meeting at its resumption from the annual on Tuesday.
The free fall of the Naira and the alarming exchange between the nation’s currency and the Dollar dominated the the questions to the Cardoso and his colleagues.
Some of the Senators who expressed over the state of the Naira charged Cardoso and his colleagues to adopt creative measures to strengthen the Naira.
President Bola Tinubu had on September 15, the nominated oDr. Olayemi Michael Cardoso as the new Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), for a term of five (5) years at the first instance, pending his confirmation by the Nigerian Senate.
The President also approved the nomination of four new Deputy Governors of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), for a term of five (5) years at the first instance, pending their confirmation by the Nigerian Senate.
