The Senate on Tuesday announced the Senator representing the Federal Capital Territory, Senator Philip Aduda, of the Peoples Democratic as its new Minority Leader
The National leadership of the Upper Chamber announced Aduda as the new Minority leader as a fallout of the resignation of Sen. Eyinnaya Abaribe from the PDP and consequent defection to All Progressive Grand Alliance.
The Upper Chamber also announced the PDP Senator representing Enugu North as its minority Chief Whip.
Senator Utazi nomination for the position followed Senator Aduda’s emergence as the Senate Minority leader.
Both announcements followed a letter from the National Secretary of the PDP, Sen Samuel Anyanwu, titled ‘Confirmation of the Senate Caucus Nomination of Sen. Philip Aduda as Senate Minority Leader to the President of Senate which was read in the Chambers during plenary on Tuesday.
FG The letter reads, ‘“Leadership of the PDP is pleased to confirm to you the nomination of Sen. Aduda, as the new Senate Minority Leader.
“The nomination of Aduda is for the replacement of the vacant seat of the minority leader created by the defection of Abaribe to APGA.
“Please kindly accord Aduda all the necessary cooperation due to the office.
“The leadership of the PDP is pleased to confirm to you the nomination of Sen. Utazi as the new Senate Minority Whip.
“The nomination of Utazi for the replacement of the vacancy to the minority whip followed the elevation of Aduda to the Senate Minority Leader.” The letter reads
