Security operatives have rescued a former member of the Edo State House of Assembly, Festus Udughele, who was kidnapped on Monday in Ubeaja.
Edughele was abducted in the early hours of the Monday at Ubiaja while on his way from Orhionmwon local government area to Benin City.
Edughele was said to be travelling to Benin to board a plane to Abuja when he was abducted by the gunmen who took him into the bush.
The Spokesperson of Edo State Police Command, Mr Chidi Nwabuzor, a Superintendent of Police said that he was rescued by a combined team of security operatives comprising police, soldiers, and operatives of the Edo State security network.
He said, “I can confirm to you that the former law maker has been rescued on Saturday by the combined team of police, soldiers and members of the Edo State Security network.
“The security put up a gallant fight to ensure that the law maker was rescued.
