Security Guards Remanded For Allegedly Stealing N108.6m Worth of Jewellery

News Investigators/ An Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan on Friday remanded three security guards for allegedly breaking into their employer’s house and stealing jewelery, foreign currency valued at N108.6 million.

The defendants, Mohammed  Idris, 35, Amos Isaac, 20, and Bala Musa, 35, are facing a three-count charge of conspiracy, break and entry and stealing.

The Magistrate, Maaruf Mudashiru, did not take the plea of the defendants and remanded them at Agodi Correctional facility, pending legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP).

Mr Mudashiru , thereafter, adjourned the case until  May 5 for mention.

Earlier, the prosecutor, CSP Samad Aliu, told the court that the trio committed the offences on Dec. 14, 2024, between 12.00 a.m and 6.00 a.m., in Ibadan.

According to him, the defendants broke into the dwelling place of the complainant, one Mrs Mary Adejumo, and stole a set of gold jewellery, a set of diamond jewellery, four wristwatches and two laptops, all valued at N108.6 million.

Mr Aliu said the defendants also stole two Nigerian International passports, two British passports and a bag containing $5,000, £1,000 and €200, property of the complainant.

He said the  offences contravened  Sections 390(9), 411 and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
