News Investigators/ Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa on Friday appreciated President Bola Tinubu for his support before, during and after the Nov. 16, 2024 governorship election in the state.
This is as he assued the people of the state that he would deliver on the promises he made during the electioneering campaign.
Mr Aiyedatiwa stated this in Akure during a Thank-You rally to appreciate the people of the state.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the rally took him from Akure Airport where he arrived, through Oba Ile to Oba Adesida to Democracy park, where he addressed the jubilant crowd.
NAN also reports that the Supreme Court on Wednesday struck out the case brought by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Allied Peoples Movement (APM) and Social Democratic Party (SDP) against the victory of Aiyedatiwa.
The governor said he was happy to be in the midst of the people who gave him the mandate and assured them that he would continue the good work he had started.
“You all came out and voted for me across the 18 local government areas of the state.
“Some people were not pleased with the result, went to court and at the apex court, decided to withdraw their case,” he said.
Mr Aiyedatiwa later called for one-minute silence for the SDP Governorship Candidate in the election, late Bamidele Akingboye, who died weeks ago.
He also thanked the people for the mandate and appreciated them for standing by him all through the struggle.
Also, the former Deputy Governor of Ondo State, Lasisi Oluboyo, congratulated the governor and the people of the state for the victory.
Mr Oluboyo assured the people of Ondo State that the governor would perform well.
The Executive Director, Corporate Affairs of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Mr Ifedayo Abegunde, said the victory was for the entire state, adding that the victory showed the will of the people prevailed.
