RIVERS POLICE COMMAND CONFIRMS EXPLOSION IN RIVERS

AS DOZENS PERISH IN THE INFERNO 

The Rivers State Police Command on Friday, confirmed the explosion from a crude oil tapping depot in Rumuekpe commumity in Emuoha in Rivers State, killing several people.

The Spokesperson of the command, Grace Iringe-Koko, said the Divisional Police Officer and his men have visited the scene of the explosion.

It was gathered that over 12 people lost their lives in the explosion from a crude oil tapping depot in Rivers State.

The victims of the inferno were said to include women and men working and living around the oil community.

The incident was said to have occurred at about 2am on Friday morning.

According to reports, a lorry ladened with crude went up in flames, as the driver tried to negotiate it’s way to an alleged illegal refining depot in the area.

Executive Director, Youths and Environmental Advocacy Centre, Fyneface Dumnamene, also confirmed the incident, adding that he received news of the incident through its ‘Crude oil spill alert response system.
