Politics: Marafa’ll Contest For Zamfara Governorship In 2027 —Group

News Investigators/ Abubakar Gora, Chairman, Kabiru Marafa political supporters group in Zamfara, popularity known as “MARAFA Mukai” says he will contest for the Zamfara governorship position in 2027.

Mr Gora, who disclosed this while speaking to newsmen in Gusau on Thursday, described Marafa as a competent candidate to rescue the state from security, economic and social challenges.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Marafa represented Zamfara Central Senatorial District in the Senate between 2011 and 2015 on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Mr Marafa had recently announced his resignation from the APC after what he wide consultations with his political supporters across the state.

Mr Gora stated, “Even though Marafa did not announce his new party for now since his defection, but he will contest for Zamfara state governorship in 2027.”

He said that the former lawmaker would soon announce his new political party.

“You know, Zamfara needs a hero like  Marafa who has the acceptance of the masses across the state.

“As we all know, Marafa is a competent leader who has Zamfara in his heart. All we need to do is to support him to rescue the state.”

According to him, Zamfara needs a visionary leader that has the people in his mind.

Mr Gora added Mr Marafa had already gained the support of the masses across the state, saying, “as I am speaking now, we  receive many people who are willing to join this political movement on daily basis.

“We all believe with Sen. Marafa’s quality when it comes to the issue of justice and fairness.

“If we recall when he represented Zamfara Central between 2011 and 2015, he had demonstrated a capacity of good leadership,” he explained.

On the defection of Marafa from the APC recently, Gora insisted that it was based on the interests of people and not on personal reasons.

“As I tell you, Mr Marafa’s defection from APC has nothing to do with disagreement with any politician, it was based on the decisions of his supporters from ward, local government and state levels,” Gora added
