POLICE CONFIRM KILLING OF A CONSTRUCTION WORKER BY GUNMEN IN BAYELSA

The Bayelsa State Police Command has confirmed the killing by unknown gunmen, one Wale, on Friday night while he was returning home from work.

The gunmen suspected to be cultists were said to have killed a construction worker, identified as Wale, after kidnapping him.

His was corpse was later found

on Saturday.

It was gathered that after the assailants killed their victim, they allegedly dumped his corpse along the Gloryland Drive Expressway in Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa state.

Neighbors said that the victim was trailed by the armed men on Friday night while some laid ambush, close to his house, along school road, Akenpai area of Yenagoa, while he was returning from work.

According to neighbors, he was forced by the abductors to drive them in his car to an unknown destination.

It was suspected that the gunmen might have shot him while he was taking them to the unknown destination.

The Bayelsa State Police spokesman, SP Asinim Butswat, in a statement confirmed the murder of the construction worker, stating that the police suspected that the death was cult-related.

He added that investigation was ongoing to unravel those behind the murder.

According to Butswat, the deceased had been identified as Wale, but his surname was unknown at the moment.

He said the corpse had been evacuated to the mortuary for autopsy.
