The Bayelsa State Police Command has arrested a Youth pastor in one of the biggest churches in Yenagoa , Joseph Fekala, for killing one Kate Ogwoh.
The Network gathered that Fekala strangled the the 26 year old girl to death and buried her in a shallow grave in his bedroom at Okaka Area of Yenagoa on Thursday.
The State Commissioner of Police, Mr Ben Okolo said that the suspect has been arrested and detained at the State Criminal Investigation Department.
The CP who described the murder as unfortunate said in an interview on Friday said operatives of the Homicide Department of the SCID had been ordered to exhume the corpse.
He said, “It’s unfortunate that this morning we heard information that a young man called Joseph Fekala strangulated his girlfriend by name Kate Ogwoh at Okaka area. It’s an unfortunate incident.
“We understand that he buried her in his room. We’ve made arrangement for the Homicide Section of the State CID to do the needful by doing proper exhumation in line with police proceedings so that we will ensure that the matter is investigated properly and the suspect faces justice.”
The grieving father of the murdered lady, Dick Ogwoh, said that his daughter, a business woman was a friend to the younger sister of the suspected killer.
He said that lady was on a visit to the house when she was killed.
He said that the family became suspicious and had to arrest the suspect when they could not reach the late Kate on the phone for a day.
He stated also that he was told by his wife that the suspected killer who was using his daughter N50,000 was avoiding paying her the money.
According to him, he was at the police station to make a formal complaint when he received a call that his daughter was murdered and buried in a shallow grave in the boy’s room.
He said, “My wife called me that my daughter’s number was not going through. From morning till evening, the number was not going through. My wife told me the boy (Fekala) was owing Kate N50,000 and he refused to pay the money. Each time she (Kate) called him, he would not pick his call.
“I asked the boy where is my daughter, he said he didn’t see her. In the process, I asked him when last he saw her, he said yesterday. I asked him what she was wearing, he said she wore white polo (shirt) and black jean trousers. I asked him when she left the house, he said around 7am in the morning. His junior sister is my daughter’s schoolmate.”
