Operatives of the Edo State Police Command on Thursday arrested 30 suspected cultists during a raid in parts of Benin, the State capital.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the State Command, Mr Chidi Nwabuzor, a Superintendent of Police, said during the parade of the suspects that they are from different cult groups.
He said thar the suspects comprise 23 males and seven females.
According to him, the police operatives carried out the raid in response to a directive by the Commissioner of Police, CP, Abutu Yaro, that all the cult groups and criminals terrorizing the State be flushed out.
The State Police Spokesman said that the suspects would be charged to court for prosecution having made confessional statements.
“The police operatives of Anti-cultism Unit of the Edo State Police Command, conducted raid exercise in different parts of the state in criminal hideouts and black spots and arrested 23 males and seven females and brought them to the station.
“This serve as warning to others criminals in the state either to repent or relocate. This exercise is a continuous one to ensure that the state is rid of criminal elements.” He said
